Enrolment

The enrolment process varies according to the age and educational background of each child. Most children come to Mahurangi Montessori Primary from a Montessori pre-school, but the School Board considers applications from children with other educational backgrounds.

The Enrolment Committee offers places based on a variety of factors, including the date a child was placed on the waiting list (via the Expression of Interest Form), the child’s history of learning in the Montessori environment, the child’s overall suitability, the willingness of the family to participate in activities to support Mahurangi Montessori Primary, the gender balance in the classroom and the ability of the Enrolment Committee to make places available for siblings.

Zoning

In October 2017, Matakana School was zoned by the Ministry of Education. For details and a zone map, please visit the enrolments page of the Matakana School website. The school welcomes out-of-zone Montessori applications and can accommodate most out-of-zone enrolees.

Contributions and other payments

Parents are encouraged to pay contributions to the Mahurangi Montessori Primary (MMP) Trust. The contributions fund a portion of the Guides’ salary and professional development, equipment and MANZ membership. The MMP contributions are set at an amount deemed necessary by the MMP Trust to maintain Mahurangi Montessori Primary. Because Mahurangi Montessori Primary is part of a state primary school and receives some government funding, the school contributions are much lower than private Montessori Schools.
